What the Color of Your Home Says About You
March 30, 2018We Are the Beaverton Painters You Can Trust
July 9, 2018At Maller Painting Company, we’re proud to be the go-to source for interior and exterior painting in Beaverton and the surrounding area. There’s nothing we love more than being able to offer high-quality work at a fair price, and the end result is that your home is a more comfortable place to live. After all, at the end of the day, your home is the place that you go to for rest and relaxation, so it just makes sense to actually enjoy your living space, doesn’t it?
That’s why in today’s post, we’d like to highlight the difference between working with subcontractors versus working with a company’s employees. Is one better than the other? Which method does our painting company utilize? Does the end result make a difference to you as a homeowner? We’ll tackle all of these questions below, so keep reading to learn more!
Subcontractors Versus Employees
We certainly won’t mention names, but let’s just say that when you go to a big box store and ask for an estimate of what it would be for them to paint your house, they will very likely be subcontracting that work out to another company entirely. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but what it can mean for you is that it’s hard to get a good feel for what the quality of the work will actually look like. For example, if the big box store works with multiple subcontractors, you won’t know who exactly will be doing the work in question.
To break it down, look at it this way. If the company works with five different subcontractors, one might do a great job, two might do a fine job, and the remaining two might door a poor job. The downside is that because they’re all working under the banner of the big box company, you don’t have any idea who you’ll be getting.
Add in the fact that the big box company needs to pay the subcontractors and still make money itself and you’ll probably realize quickly that you’re being overcharged for the same amount of work another painting company could do for free. Is that always the case? Not necessarily, but you will find this to be true fairly frequently.
What Does It Mean to Working With Painting Contractors Who Have Their Own Employees?
On the other hand, when you hire a painter who has dedicated employees, you often end up with higher quality work (and better house painting rates). That’s because there’s no middle man involved.
For example, when you hire Maller Painting Company, you’ll be working with a dedicated team who does this type of work day in and day out. We pride ourselves on a job well done because we know just how much joy it can bring a homeowner when they see their home painted beautifully.
So to answer one of the key questions posed above, does the end result of whether you use a subcontractor or a painting company with its own employees make a difference? It depends on the end results. If you are pleased and you feel that the price you paid was fair, you’ll probably be happy overall. If, however, there is an issue that comes up, you’ll have to contact the big box store who will contact their subcontractor who will come back and fix their mistakes…and you might end up paying more anyway.
We certainly won’t tell you which direction to go, but what we will say is that when you hire Maller Painting Co, you’ll be working directly with us and our employees. At the end of the day, what you can expect from us is that exceptional client care is our top priority. And we haven’t even mentioned the free one-hour color consultation that we offer to make sure you end up with a color that you’re going to love. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Kevin began painting houses with his father’s company, C&K Painting, in 1996. His father taught him how to use a brush, roller, and caulk and clean a brush properly. He then worked for several other paint companies, where he learned how to spray oils, lacquers, and all water-based finishes. In 2012, after 15 years of experience, he decided to get licensed and start the Maller Painting Company. His team has focused on providing the best re-painting services to our residential clients in the Beaverton area.
